Jumbo has an exciting opportunity for Assistant Manager in our store in Nyanga. We have one (1) vacancy to fill.

The purpose of this position is to have a successful individual that can be responsible for assisting in managing an individual store through execution of:

  • the marketing and operations plans,
  • co-ordinates specific marketing, administrative, logistics, HR, sales and operations sequences and
  • Attends to the general applications and interventions associated with the functionality of the shop.
  • Manages the store in absence of Store Manager.KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES:

Staff Management

  • Disciplining and counselling of staff
  • Assist with training as required
  • Staffs register management – late arrivals / early departures.
  • Managing Cash Desk Area (where applicable)
  • Monthly Float Register
  • Planning of staff tea, lunch breaks and day off.

Shop Floor Functions

  • Promote customer service and an environment conducive to a pleasant shopping experience
  • Ensure shop floor assistants are executing duties
  • Assist with merchandising in all departments as required
  • Ensuring high level of housekeeping is maintained (cleaning roster)
  • Relieve in departments during lunch times, day off’s

Administration Function

  • Control the standard of administration and procedures in the store
  • Assist supervisor/admin controller with cash controlling function
  • Authorizing all transactions on 3A Level
  • Spot checks on cashiers
  • Controlling of Lay Byes and RTS – in the absence

Other Functions

  • Act as Branch Manager in the absence of Branch Manager
  • Performing any reasonable duties delegated by the Branch Manager

The purpose of this position is to have a successful individual that will be responsible for managing an individual store through execution of the marketing and operations plans. Who will co-ordinate specific marketing, administrative, logistics, HR, sales and operations sequences and attends to the general applications and interventions associated with the functionality within the store.

Key Accountabilities

Asset Management
  • Responsible for the branch as a whole, ensuring that the outside of the store is kept neat and tidy and that inside fixtures and fittings are accounted for and maintained.
  • Co-ordination of janitorial and repair services.
Stock Control
  • Is responsible for all stock and will be held accountable for all overages and shortages.
  • Prepare requisitions to replenish stock.
  • Identify and report on slow selling items.
  • Conduct a stock take
Merchandising
  • Manage the quality and quantity aspects of the merchandise assortments.
  • Co-ordinate the layout of shelves and merchandise of seasonal and sale displays.
  • Identify new ways of promoting merchandise.
  • Ensure required housekeeping standards at all times.
Marketing and Sales
  • Manage the implementation of all marketing promotions to ensure maximum sales opportunities are exploited.
  • Prepare and direct staff who are preparing merchandise displays.
  • Actively participate in promotions.
  • Stay up to date with current advertising trends.
  • Provide sales leadership to staff.
  • Stay current with products, marketing and pricing of area retailers with similar products.
  • Achieve and exceed store sales targets.
  • Organizing special promotions sales & events
  • Initiating changes/improvement suggestions
Admin and Cash
  • Ensure that the standard of administration and procedures in store are met.
  • Ensure that the responsible persons are following proper procedures when handling all store cash. Check and verify these documents daily.
  • Manage controllable expenses as this directly affects the profitability of the branch.
  • Reporting to Area Manager
Management of Staff
  • Assign employees to specific duties, by way of their JD, To Do Lists, Plans and Goals..
  • Encourage, assist and train employees to become a motivated sales force.
  • Manage performance and development of staff.
  • Ensure that all procedures and policies are being followed and enforce disciplinary action when necessary.
  • Determine when extra temporary staff is needed and recruit same.
  • Dealing with recruitment staff
  • Attending & facilitating staff meetings
Security / Risk
  • Manage the security in all aspects of the business and ensure that security procedures are strictly adhered to.
  • Monitor security staff and make sure that they are alert and performing their duties to the maximum.
  • Ensuring that Health & Safety standards are met.
Customer Service
  • Apply Customer Service principles in a friendly and enthusiastic manner on a daily basis.
  • Train staff in customer service.
  • Assist customers with enquiries and complaints.
  • Continuously satisfy customer needs and attract clientele.

Jumbo has an exciting opportunity for a Financial Manager at our Support Centre, in East London. We have one (1) vacancy to fill.

The purpose of this position is to drive, manage, deliver and plan all financial aspects of the business. To offer guidance, focus and leadership to the accounting and finance department and to ensure all deadlines are met as well as ensuring the financial well-being of the company. The Finance Manager will be responsible for helping the organization to make sound business choices and advise on the importance of budgetary planning and the financial implications of the business decisions that are made.

Key accountabilities:

ACCOUNTING

  • Taking books to final trial balance and adjusting final journal entries
  • Drafting financial statements with the auditors
  • Produce monthly management accounts for all branches and the group budget
  • Setting expenditure budgets and monitoring monthly expenses
  • Analysing expenses to ensure the best net profit for the company
  • Meeting deadlines and financial reporting inline with legal compliance

VAT

  • Preparation of VAT returns

TAXATION

  • Preparing income taxation and completing income tax returns with auditor input
  • Checking income tax returns and dealing with SARS queries
  • Obtain annual tax clearance certificates

PAYROLL

  • Check and approve monthly payroll (VIP Premier)
  • Maintain monthly payroll records

  • Create and maintain fixed asset registers

REPORTING

  • Monthly financial feedback to directors and at Board Meetings

STOCK TAKE

  • Oversee Risk Manager who oversees stock takes of all Jumbo stores and the warehouse
  • Implement systems for stock loss prevention and control
  • Administer daily stock control procedures

STAFF

  • Oversee +/- 15 Staff members, adjust workflow, deliverables and requirements
  • Participate in recruitment and selection processes
  • Conduct appraisals to measure performance against agreed objectives
  • Monitoring the adequacy of current training interventions
  • Approving the processes of journal entries, recons and posting to general ledgers

CREDITORS

  • Administer, check and approve daily and monthly trade and sundry creditor payments and allocations
  • Payment of Sundry Suppliers, ensure best prices are paid and all support information is attached

AUDIT

  • Monthly preparation of required year end audit documentation and lead schedules

INTERNAL CONTROL

  • Administer current internal control systems and identify future controls working with the Risk Manager
  • Monitor procurement policies
  • Assess the adequacy of current recording / accounting procedures related to reconciliations, posting, updating and adjusting entries and make recommendations on future improvements

INTERNAL AUDITOR

  • Administer, monitor and report on the duties and functions of the internal auditor

COMPUTER SYSTEMS

  • Have a full understanding of the systems
  • Communicate with UCS / External suppliers
  • Oversee IT and maintain systems

GENERAL

  • Responsible and Accountable for all financial related tasks in the business
  • Analyse and classify risks and investment and potential impact on the company.
  • Analyse competitors and market trends
  • Develop external relationships with appropriate contracts

Minimum Requirements:

  • Degree in Financial Management / CIMA / ACCA
  • Minimum of 5-8 years’ experience in a Similar role / environment

STOCK CONTROLLER_EAST LONDON

Jumbo the Clothing Co, has an exciting opportunity for a Stock Controller based in our Support Centre in East London. We have one (1) vacancy to fill.

Purpose of the job:

The purpose of this position is for the stock controller to work in the risk department. The stock controller will be responsible for ensuring all stock takes and store audits are conducted in accordance with the company policies and procedures.

Key Accountabilities

Stock Adjustments

  • Assist the stores in resolving any/all issues regarding non-stock delivery
  • Do Stock / SKU Adjustments
  • Ensure stores follow the correct IBT procedures as per company policy
  • Process IBT adjustments
  • Ensure stores capture packing slips correctly
  • Ensure Laybye procedures are followed in stores as per company policy
  • Ensure RTs are done regularly at stores
  • Conduct Laybye audits
  • Ensure stores are following procedures when performing Daily banking / cash-up procedures
  • Audit manual books
  • Audit cashier and manager floats
  • Audit the procedure in terms of VOIDs, Refunds and Exchanges in the stores – ensure the company policy is followed at all times

Stock Count

  • Plan and communicate with stores and management to ensure stock counts take place regularly
  • Prepare physical equipment (including the printing of BIN lables)
  • Co-ordinate the physical stock counts
  • Post stock adjustments
  • Filing of stock take documents
  • Ensure cost of stock count remains within the budget

Investigations

  • Conduct investigations ad-hoc and gather and collate requisite documentation for the perusal of the Senior Internal Auditor.

Other

  • Ensure there are spare keys and policy is being adhered to in terms of management of keys in stores
  • Document discrepancies and adjust errors ad-hoc
  • Co-ordinate delivery of incoming stock to various departments.
  • Suggest solutions to improve the risk departments processes and procedures
  • Providing assistance to the Senior Internal Auditor and Risk Team, is not limited to the tasks and duties laid out herein.
